Acupuncture Awareness Week

7 March – 13 March 2016

Experience your full health potential

With 2.3 million acupuncture treatments carried out each year, traditional acupuncture is one of the most popular complementary therapies practised in the UK today.

Acupuncture treats a wide range of conditions, although many people use acupuncture to maintain optimum levels of well-being and reduce stress. It works by promoting the body’s self-healing capacity, increasing levels of energy, or redistributing it correctly around the body – doesn’t it feel like tension (and therefore energy) is held in your neck  and shoulders sometimes, when you’d rather it was supporting your aching lower back, or fuelling your mental faculties instead?

Pain is caused when energy has become stuck causing an excess, or a deficiency. Traditional acupuncturist have an understanding of the flow of energy (often called Qi) through meridians around the body, and so you will see that not only do they needle at the location of pain, but at points away from the site, which stimulates the proper flow of energy, thus reducing pain and bring the body back to homeostasis.

Find out what Olympian, Rebecca Adlington has to say about acupuncture for a shoulder injury, at the British Acupuncture Council’s website, Introducing Acupuncture. http://www.introducingacupuncture.co.uk/who-has-acupuncture.html
